The outbreak began in a 14-year-old Christian Science highschool student who developed a rash on April 4, 2 weeks afterskiing in Colorado where a measles outbreak was occurring. Thestudent lived with her family in a community associated with aChristian Science college in Jersey County, Illinois, and commutedapproximately 30 miles to a Christian Science boarding school(kindergarten through grade 12 K-12) in St. Louis County,Missouri. From April 16 through May 19, 141 persons with measles(age range: 1-24 years) were reported to the St. Louis CountyHealth Department, and 49 persons with measles (age range: 4-25years) were reported to the Jersey County Health Department(Figure_1).

All cases met the measles clinical case definition (1) andwere epidemiologically linked to the boarding school and/orcollege. Fourteen cases were serologically confirmed by detectionof immunoglobulin M antibody. All cases occurred among persons notvaccinated before the outbreak. Eighteen prospective students fromoutside St. Louis County attended a carnival at the boarding schoolon April 16; eight developed measles after returning home (three toMaine, two to California, and one each to Missouri, New York, andWashington). Two cases of serologically confirmed measles occurredin persons outside the Christian Science communities. One caseoccurred in an unvaccinated 35-year-old physician who attended atennis tournament on April 30 where students from the affectedcollege competed. The other case occurred in a 9-month-old infantwho visited a restaurant on April 30 where the college tennis teamwas eating.
Control measures included offering measles vaccine to studentsin the affected communities and isolating persons with rashes andthose considered susceptible to measles. On April 19, the boardingschool and college began isolating persons with rashes in aseparate building on each campus and placing 24-hour guards atcampus entrances. Only persons with proof of immunity to measleswere permitted to enter or leave the campuses. Isolation measureson both campuses remained in effect until 14 days after theappearance of rash in the last persons with measles for eachschool.
Measles vaccination was offered to Christian Science studentsand persons in the surrounding communities at special clinicsoffered by the public health departments in both Missouri andIllinois. A total of 149 Christian Science students (K-12) andtheir siblings were vaccinated in Missouri and 451 in Illinois. Ofthe 149 students at the boarding school who receivedmeasles-mumps-rubella vaccine (MMR) during outbreak control, 61(41%) developed measles within 2 weeks after vaccination.
All Passengers are eligible for a mobile boarding pass except for infants traveling as a lap child, unaccompanied minors (UMs), individuals traveling on international itineraries, selectee Passengers, and individuals traveling on military fares and government fares.
You can share your mobile boarding pass after adding it to Apple Wallet on an iPhone. To do this, go into the Apple Wallet app and tap on the three dots in the upper-right corner. There will be a share icon in the top-right corner that will allow you to share your pass. Sharing is not currently available through Google Pay.
Yes. There are some exceptions, including international reservations or any reservation over eight passengers. All members of the party will have access to all eligible boarding passes under that reservation.
NOTE: If one of the Passengers traveling on a multi-passenger reservation does not qualify for online check-in (i.e., age-restricted, military, group, etc.), the other Passengers who do qualify will be able to check in and retrieve their own boarding passes.
To board your flight, scan your mobile boarding pass by holding one of the devices listed above with your pass facing the scanner. The scanner is located at the boarding door podium. Once your pass has been properly scanned, you will then be allowed to proceed down the jet bridge.
If you elect to use a mobile boarding pass and have purchased a Business Select Fare, your drink coupon eligibility will be noted on the mobile boarding pass. To receive your complimentary premium drink during your flight, simply show the drink coupon portion of your mobile boarding pass to the Flight Attendant for validation.
